We are a UK charity and offer guest wi-fi to our visitors. We have SonicWall firewalls and then everything else is Unifi switches, Cloud Key+, Wi-Fi, CCTV and DisplayCast Pros around the building. The Unifi Captive portal seems to work properly with a Unifi Gateway - but we don't have one. Anyone got experience of getting a captive portal working with a non-unifi router/gateway? It seems as though the guest network needs to be able to connect to the CloudKey (which resides on the corporate LAN) to pop up the portal page? What is to stop people browsing to the IP of the CloudKey and hitting the logon screen? How does the Captive portal work with iOS and Android devices? What are my alternatives? What would be the community's recommendation for running 1 VM for mostly low traffic web in India (eg: Mumbai, Bangalore, or elsewhere)? I just want stable VMs, stable network (1Gbps or higher), that I don't need to spend much time thinking. It would be very low traffic (only in the GB range). Budget: below USD 4 per month. Thanks!

We're a mid-size supplier in the EU, not big enough to be in NIS2 scope ourselves, but our largest customer is, and after the npm supply-chain mess a while back they sent us a 40-question security assessment with a contract clause attached, we answer it or we're not a supplier anymore. Answering it means I have to turn around and demand the same evidence from our own suppliers, because half the questions are about how we manage our sub-processors. So I'm getting audited from above and having to audit downward at the same time. The parts where I could answer without having to reach out to any 3rd part were basically all fine, like one question was "How does the organization correlate security events across cloud, on-premises, and OT environments to detect complex attacks?" and the answer was just Splunk, since it can correlate logs and flag threat patterns, another was "How does the organization ensure that critical administrative credentials and secrets are protected by modern encryption, and where is this data physically stored to maintain EU data sovereignty?" We use a self-hosted Passwork so that was also an easy answer, it operates on zero-knowledge and credentials are encrypted client-side using AES-256. Other operational flow questions were also fine. Some questions, however, were infuriating, like the one that prompted me to make this post "You rely on third-party software vendors and digital service providers. Demonstrate the technical process you use to track zero-day vulnerabilities within their code or dependencies. When a critical flaw is announced in a component they use, what cryptographic or automated evidence do they provide to prove your specific deployment is secure or patched within 5 business days?" The hard part is the downstream half, obviously. I now have to get pen test summaries and ISO certificates out of roughly 20 small suppliers, plus breach-notification clauses into every contract, and some of them have no security function at all and will look at my questionnaire the way I first looked at the one I have. I'm stuck on two things, (1) how to get evidence out of small suppliers who don't have it without just dropping them? We use Cisco WSA as our internal proxy. And we have a new service for Call Center where they need to access VOIP through the browser. I thought this would not be an issue as Teams and other online meeting software works fine. But Im having issues with hearing calls. Documentation shows that this service needs UDP ports open for STUN and RTP/RTCP protocols. Hi everyone, I'm a bit confused about Google Cloud Billing and was hoping someone could clarify this for me. I'm a student and I accidentally enabled Google Cloud Billing while trying out Google AI Studio to generate a Gemini API key. I don't actually use Google Cloud services, and I don't have any running resources or active projects. When I checked my billing dashboard, it shows: ₹0.00 balance due No transactions No usage/costs But I'm also seeing a message saying that I need to make a one-time payment of at least ₹1000 to activate the service . I also received an email saying my payment information couldn't be processed. Since I don't plan to use Google Cloud at all, I'm confused about what this means. My questions are: Is this ₹1000 an activation/prepaid amount, or is it an actual bill? If I don't have any usage or charges, can I just ignore this message? Will I be charged anything in the future if I simply leave the account as it is and never use Google Cloud? TL;DR: Azure ML job bypassed its 21-day hard limit and ran for 70 days. A sub-wide Defender for Storage enablement triggered massive scanning costs on the stuck job's continuously appending logs (over than a thousand € for Defender + few hundreds € for the VM). Opened an Enterprise support ticket well within the retention window, but internal MS routing delays caused backend logs to expire. Support now uses the lack of logs to deny any refund, ignoring immutable billing evidence and their own platform limit failure. I'm dealing with a billing dispute regarding an Azure Machine Learning job and the linked VM + Defender for Cloud costs, and I'm looking for other perspectives and possibly, even some advice with the case and/or dealing with MS Support. Context: Company: Enterprise environment with Enterprise Agreement and dedicated support. Project: Resource Group dedicated to an MVP started in 2025, average monthly spend is a few hundreds € . ML workload: typical job duration is below 30 mins, in rare cases it reached 8-12 hours (max). Anomaly timeline: Day 1: an Azure ML job starts and seemingly get stuck in a loop. All logs related to this job disappeared from the Storage Account, except for a computeRecord.txt (full path: https://<storageAccountName>.blob.core.windows.net/azureml/ComputeRecord/dcid.<jobName>/ ) containing two useful info: VMSize (checks out with billing data) and CoreSeconds, confirming the 70 days job duration. Day 53: colleagues enable Defender for Storage sub-wide with the default 10TB / month cap per Storage Account (a bit too high for a default per Resource cap..?) . It continuously scans the AML log files generated by the stuck job, already bloated after almost 2 months of logs, with 3 generating most of the volume (URL with path: https://<storageAccountName>.blob.core.windows.net/azureml/ExperimentRun/dcid.<jobName>/system_logs/... ; files: hosttools-capability.log , lifecycler.log , and metrics-capability.log - biggest one reached 140+ MB, 3 writes per minute -> 3 complete scans per minute). Disclaimer: i acknowledge this is partly on us, as the defaults were accepted and and no paths were excluded. Day 62: 10 TB monthly cap is reached, the Event Grid System Topic created by Defender and linked to the Storage Account shows that the events keep firing, but now they’re being ignored. Day 69: I find out about the issue and having to act quickly to prevent new costs starting the next month (it was a friday afternoon and the next month started with the next monday), I lower the monthly cap to 10 GB and enable Storage Account-level logging/diagnostic logs. Immediately after, the Event Grid System Topic shows the events stop firing: the job abruptly stopped (reason still unknown), which is confirmed by the VM billing. Day 75: I open a severity B Support Request under our Enterprise support plan and granting permission for "Advanced diagnostic information" . Incurred costs (using ranges to "anonymize", just in case): VM Compute: 200-500 € Defender for Storage: 1.000€ - 1.500€ The support issue: Official Azure ML docs state a 21-day hard limit for job execution ( link ): the platform failed to trigger its own timeout. I initially opened the SR with the Storage team, but due to delayed responses and poor investigation, the specialized AML team was engaged over a month later - even though the AML involvement was clear after at most 2 weeks. By that time, the 30-day internal backend diagnostic logs had expired (see point below). Support is now stonewalling: they refuse to evaluate a refund, claiming that without backend logs, they cannot confirm a platform anomaly, completely ignoring the immutable billing, the computeRecord.txt evidence and the platform's failure to enforce its own 21-day limit. Questions: What’s your take on this? Is it reasonable from your POV and experience to push for a full refund (VM + Defender costs), since the massive logs were a direct byproduct of the AML anomaly, or should I solely focus on the VM compute costs (at least the excess over the 21-day limit)? I’d expect at the very least the latter, understanding that the Defender operated correctly and based on "poor" configuration on our side. How do you successfully escalate past a support tier that behaves like this? Do you have “success stories” or advice regarding similar cases? I'm trying to better understand the relationship between Azure Machine Learning Storage Accounts, Datastores, and Data Assets, and I'm a bit confused about when each should be used. From my understanding: A Storage Account is where the actual data resides. A Datastore acts as a registered connection to the storage. Data Assets reference data stored in a datastore or another supported location. However, I'm still unclear about a few things: What is the practical difference between URI File , URI Folder , and MLTable ? For different data formats, which asset type is recommended? CSV Excel (.xlsx) JSON Parquet Images Text files Is MLTable intended only for tabular datasets, or can it also be used with image datasets and other file types? When would you register a Data Asset instead of simply accessing files directly from a Datastore? Are there any performance, versioning, or reproducibility benefits to using Data Assets over directly referencing storage? What is the recommended data organization strategy for production Azure ML projects? I'd appreciate it if anyone could share real-world examples or best practices for organizing data in Azure ML.
